Vista Joy Ringers seeking new bell ringers

The Vista Joy Ringers are part of the music ministry of Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church in Catalina. The small group enjoys performing and ringing hand bells. The group currently has six members and performs once a month at the church services. Their skill level ranges from novice to experienced bell ringers. The current group is made up of Shannon Casey, Dottie Lee Colby, Donna Boring, Bob Sherman and Craig Holder.

Director of the bell choir for the past three years is Shannon Casey. She has been ringing bells for 15 years as an adult and directing bell choirs for five years. She is the Director for the Sonoran Bells. They are a well known community handbell ensemble based in Tucson. The Sonoran Bells perform a variety of music including Mozart, show tunes, Glen Miller and the Beach Boys.

Shannon is looking for more bell ringers for the Vista Joy Ringers. You do not have to be a member of the church to join. Being able to read music is a plus but experience is not necessary as Shannon can teach the skills you need to know. Shannon would like to see the choir have 10 bell ringers but even one more will help. If you are interested in becoming a bell ringer, contact Shannon at (520) 591-5137. She will be happy to discuss it with you or stop by one of the weekly practice sessions at the church.

The Vista Joy Ringers practice every Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church sanctuary. The church is located at 3001 E. Mira Vista Lane just south of Golder Ranch Road on the west side of Oracle Road.
