Christopher Villaverde represented Superior as a student delegate at the 26th Annual Pinal County Town Hall. The Town Hall was held at the Harras Ak Chin Casino Resort in Maricopa. This year the focus of the Town Hall was on volunteerism, and it’s impact on the communities in Pinal County.
What does volunteerism mean to Chris? Chris sees the big picture when it comes to community service. For example, the Cancer Walk brings together the community of Superior while it simultaneously raises money for cancer research. Superior students work together for a greater cause. Chris has become closer with his peers when they work together. The student organized cancer walk also impacts people on a national level. Chris plans on making volunteerism a lifelong commitment. Chris wants to get involved during college so he can eventually come back and give back to the Town of Superior.
Chris is a member of FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America , National Honor Society, and Senior Class President. He is a volunteer for the annual Cancer Fight by Candlelight Walk, Pat Tillman Run, and Superior Public Safety Explorers. Chris also proctors at the John F. Kennedy Elementary school.
Chris also excels academically. He is in the CVIT student-Engineering program, and will be a program completer this year; he is also taking an evening Geology class through CAC. Chris wants to go to CAC after he graduates in May. He has received the Government Award, Perfect Attendance Award and is on the Honor Roll consistently.
The student delegate registration for Superior High School was sponsored by Resolution Copper. Mrs. Angela Brammer the High School guidance councelor attended the Town Hall along with Chris.
The Pinal County Town Hall has held the Town Hall for 26 consecutive years. Each year the advisory committee chooses a topic to discuss that is relevant to the entire county. Topics in the past have included economic development, public safety and health care.
