The Superior Veterans of Foreign Wars recently recognized Ms. Terry Villaverde as the 2017 Teacher of the Year. The Post hosted a recognition dinner for her and her family. In the written application by the Post, she was nominated due to her work ethic and positive influence that she has on the students at the Superior Junior-Senior High School.
Villaverde has been with the Superior Unified School District for over 20 years. She has served as the Culinary and Child Development teacher. These programs were formally known as the Home Economics Department, today she teaches students not only how to cook but provides instruction to students considering careers in Child Development or the Food Industry.
The local VFW Post will forward her nomination on to the National VFW Teacher of the Year Contest.
Mila Besich is a resident of Superior with two children. She volunteers for many local organizations. She is an experienced fundraiser and event planner for Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition. She covers some of the area town councils and schools.
