Vanessa Navarette and Family

My name is Vanessa Navarrette and I am running for one of the three open seats on the Superior Town Council in the upcoming August 30, 2016 Election.

I am a lifetime resident of Superior, only being away while attending college.  I am a 1991 graduate from Superior High School and a 1996 graduate from Arizona State University with a BS degree in Accountancy.

A fourth generation miner, I have worked most of my career as an accountant in the local mining industry.  I have worked for Magma/BHP, ASARCO, Phelps Dodge and am currently employed by KGHM’s Carlota Mine, of which I am the Controller.  My duties as Controller entail performing accounting functions, budgeting and coordinating audits.  I oversee Payroll, Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Information Systems.

I am a longtime volunteer for Superior Little League serving as a Board Member for the past 9 years, most of them as Treasurer.  Alongside other board members I have worked diligently on fundraising, grant writing and building positive relationships with local businesses and organizations in order make visible improvements to the Little League Field.  I have also worked hard on putting systems in place to ensure that the League is financially self-sustainable.

I married my high school sweetheart, Martin Navarrette and we have three beautiful children: Cierra is a sophomore at Arizona State University, Austin is a senior and Adam is in 8th Grade at Superior Jr/Sr High School.  Martin works for Freeport McMoRan as a Sr. Environmental Engineer.  Martin also serves on the Little League Board and is a Softball and Football coach for the Superior School District.  We have been fortunate to be able to work within commuting distance so that we are able to raise our children in Superior, along with our families, friends and community.  Both my parents Mark and Dee Rabago were raised and graduated high school in Superior.  My grandparents, Frank Rabago, Dora Ramirez and Loretta Gorham all attended Superior Schools and raised their families in Superior.  The first of my great grandparents set roots in Superior in 1916.

I am invested in this community.  I want, like everyone else, what is best for our community and this is why I decided to run for Town Council.  No hidden agendas, no vendettas, no personal gain.  I believe that my financial background, business sense, volunteer experience and strong work ethic will assist the Town in developing a much needed Strategic and Financial Plan.  I am committed to building a stronger relationship between the Town, residents, business leaders, school district and other important organizations.  I will represent the community to the best of my ability and will always listen and speak to reasoning.  I encourage you to exercise your right to vote, and elect the candidates that you believe will be able to work together in bringing about positive change and doing what is best for the Town of Superior.

I respectfully ask for your vote in the August 30th election.  Thank you.

/s/ Vanessa Navarette
