Two Hayden seniors selected to play in All-Star football game

Hayden High School seniors Jacob Manriquez and Gabriel Marsical were selected to play in the Arizona Football Coaches Association All-Star Senior Bowl, which will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Duncan High School. The game is scheduled is for 6 p.m.

Gilbert Christian’s Larry Cain and Pima’s Jace Hancock will serve as coaches in the All-Star game. Both teams reached the semi-finals of the 2014 state playoffs.

Manriquez, who played quarterback and defensive back, was one of four Lobos’ players to receive postseason honors by the AIA. He was named Division VI All-Section IV First Team as a defensive back after recording 78 tackles and five interceptions. He also passed for 703 yards, rushed for 521 yards, and scored 15 touchdowns – nine passing and six rushing.

Mariscal, who was named Division VI All-Section IV Second Team as a linebacker, recorded 55 tackles and three sacks in his final season at Hayden.
