The Kearny Town Council approved the road closures for the annual Electric Light Parade for Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. The parade is hosted by the Copper Basin Chamber of Commerce. They are requesting that the route be approved with the following road closures, Allen Road, Alden Road, Tilbury Road and the 400 Block of Danbury up Senator Chastain Road to Bearcat Boulevard. The Kearny Police Department will be assisting with the road closures and parade escorts. Councilmember Radcliffe commented that this route has limited seating areas from routes used previously, he encouraged the chamber and town to make sure everyone understands the route. The parade ends at the school ramada, parade prizes will be given out there and Santa will be there to greet the children.
The council also approved the Fire Department to write off $200,649.62 in Ambulance Receivables. This write off was at the request of the town auditing firm Colby and Powell. The bills that are being written off are bills that will more than likely never be collected on due to the federal and state regulations that operate the Medicare and Medicaid system. The statute of limitations on collecting these bills also comes into effect which does not allow the bills to be collected.
