At a special council meeting on Aug. 5, the Hayden Town Council voted not to re-appoint the Police Chief. Following their action to not appoint they then voted to terminate Chief Scott Gillen.
Councilmembers Kathy Cruz and Bobby Smith voted against the termination. No details were discussed as to why the council voted to terminate the police chief. The appointment of an Interim Chief will be done at the regularly scheduled Town Council meeting on Monday, Aug. 19, at 5:30 p.m.
In other business the council voted to spend $4,650 on the upcoming Fiesta Patrias event on Sept. 14, approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Gila County Library District and also voted to re-appoint the Town Clerk and Town Magistrate.
