Last week, staff from the Southwest Conservation Corps assisted the Tonto National Forest with a cleanup of the desert around Superior. Resolution Copper also assisted with the clean up by paying for the roll off and dump fees. Local rancher Bill Dunn from Kearny also assisted and provided back hoe services.
The Forest Service was able to contract with the Southwest Conservation Corps through a grant they received.
Dumping in the desert continues to be a problem. Officials from the Tonto National Forest would like to encourage those who are enjoying the desert areas to not leave their trash and to report those who they see dumping trash.
Reports should be filed with the Pinal County Sheriff’s office and photos of people dumping are also helpful in the investigation.
