MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT EVENT Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens are holding the Medicare Open Enrollment Event on Oct. 25 and Nov. 26 from 10 am – 4 pm at the Hayden Senior Center, 520 Velesco St. Your healthcare changes from year to year, and your health plan may change the benefits and costs, each year, too. Open Enrollment is the one time of year that all people with Medicare can see what new benefits are offered and make changes to their coverage. Medicare Open Enrollment begins Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7.

RAY PRIMARY PTO COOKBOOK Ray Primary PTO is preparing a cookbook featuring recipes from our community. Forms to submit your favorite recipes so you can be a part of our memorable collection can be picked up and submitted at the Ray Primary School Office or at Cosmic Coffee, or submit recipes online with Username: Ray Bearcats password pickle420 at www.typensave.com/app/# by Oct. 24. MEDICAL SUPPLY LOANING CLOSET A loaning closet for medical supplies, free of charge to area residents, has been established at Constitution Hall / the Senior Citizen Building in Kearny, located just beyond the swimming pool. Wheel chairs, walkers, crutches and other supplies have been gathered through efforts of the Seniors and the Copper Area Health Volunteers. COPPER BASIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2012 THEME The theme for the Copper Basin Chamber of Commerce’s activities for 2012 is “Celebrating Statehood, 100 Years, With Rails and Trails.” If you have favorite stories of the rails and trails of the Copper Basin area contact the Copper Basin News and they will assign their reporters to write your story or you can contact Rosalind Padilla through the Chamber office.

KEARNY ELKS LODGE MEETINGS Kearny Elks Lodge #2478 meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. The lounge has a new schedule of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5 – 8 p.m.

EARLY HEAD START ENROLLMENT The Mammoth/Winkelman Early Head Start is accepting enrollment applications for children 0-3 years for the 2012-2013 school year. Children must be three before Aug. 31, 2012, and parents need to bring in proof of birth, guardianship, income and immunizations. Children with disabilities accepted. ATTENTION LOBOS FANS 65 AND OLDER The Hayden Winkelman School District is honoring all Lobo fans ages 65 and older who reside in our district with a lifetime Royal Senior Pass. TOWN OF HAYDEN Town of Hayden Holiday Garbage Pick-up Schedule will be for Thanksgiving on Fri., Nov. 23. Christmas’ will be Wed., Dec. 26 and Fri., Dec. 28. New Year’s will be Wed., Jan. 2 and Fri., Jan. 4.

WINTER WONDERLAND A Fairy Tale Christmas is the theme for this year’s Winter Wonderland Electric Light Parade, scheduled for Sat., Dec 1. Contact the Kearny Copper Basin Chamber of Commerce office if you want a booth or have entertainment ideas. Be thinking of ideas for the float you want to enter in the parade.

FLAG FOOTBALL GAMES Flag Football games for the Mammoth-San Manuel League will be played at the Hayden High School Football Field on Sat., Dec. 1, starting at 9 am. There will be a concession stand. Come support the kids in the community.

CHRISTMAS SENIOR LUNCH Christmas Lunch for Seniors will be held at the Hayden Senior Center on Dec. 14 from 11 am to 1 pm. Please call 520-356-6455 for more information or to arrange a ride.

18TH ANNUAL PRAYER EVENT The Virgen de Guadalupe 18th Annual Prayer Event, hosted by JoAnn and Braulio Amavisca will be on Sat., Dec. 15, 1 pm at 419 W. Quarelli St. in Winkelman. All are welcome!

CHRISTMAS LIGHT PARADE The Hayden-Winkelman Christmas Light Parade will be on Sat., Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.

LIGHTING CONTEST The Friends of the Kearny Library will once again sponsor the Lighting contest for Kearny residents. The homes will be judged on Dec 15 so that pictures can appear in the paper dated Dec 19. Prizes will be awarded.

RAFFLE WINNER ANNOUNCED The winner of the St. Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving Basket was Jonathan Corral of Tucson, grandson of Erma and Danny Guzman. The raffle was held Nov. 17.
