MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT EVENT Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens are holding the Medicare Open Enrollment Event on Oct. 25 and Nov. 26 from 10 am – 4 pm at the Hayden Senior Center, 520 Velesco St. Your healthcare changes from year to year, and your health plan may change the benefits and costs, each year, too. Open Enrollment is the one time of year that all people with Medicare can see what new benefits are offered and make changes to their coverage. Medicare Open Enrollment begins Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7.

RAY PRIMARY PTO COOKBOOK Ray Primary PTO is preparing a cookbook featuring recipes from our community. COPPER BASIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2012 THEME The theme for the Copper Basin Chamber of Commerce’s activities for 2012 is “Celebrating Statehood, 100 Years, With Rails and Trails.” If you have favorite stories of the rails and trails of the Copper Basin area contact the Copper Basin News and they will assign their reporters to write your story or you can contact Rosalind Padilla through the Chamber office.

KEARNY ELKS LODGE MEETINGS Kearny Elks Lodge #2478 meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. The lounge has a new schedule of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5 – 8 p.m.

EARLY HEAD START ENROLLMENT The Mammoth/Winkelman Early Head Start is accepting enrollment applications for children 0-3 years for the 2012-2013 school year. Children must be three before Aug. 31, 2012, and parents need to bring in proof of birth, guardianship, income and immunizations. Children with disabilities accepted. ADULT BOY SCOUT LEADERS NEEDED Boy Scouts of America, Troop 872, based in Kearny and sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS is searching for Adult Leaders that are willing to volunteer time and talents to assist in building the next generation of leaders. ATTENTION LOBOS FANS 65 AND OLDER The Hayden Winkelman School District is honoring all Lobo fans ages 65 and older who reside in our district with a lifetime Royal Senior Pass. This pass will allow you free admission to all home games. To receive your free pass please fill out the required form at the high school office. LADIES TEA PARTY You are cordially invited to the Kearny Library’s 2012 Season Ladies Tea Party, to be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 1 p.m. There will be refreshments, a craft, and a good time to be had by all. Come join us!

FOOD BANK DISTRIBUTION The Copper Basin Food Bank will distribute food on the third Thursday of every month at 1:30 p.m. at Hubbard Park in Kearny. The next distribution date is Oct. 18. Please bring your own box. Donations are accepted. The CBFB is assisted by the Florence Food Bank. Food distribution times may vary each month. Numbers for the distribution will always be given out starting at 11:30 a.m.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY There will be a Halloween Costume Party Fri., Oct. 26, from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Kearny Elks Lodge. Donations will be taken at the door; ladies get in free. Prizes will be awarded for best costume.

RUMMAGE SALE There will be a rummage sale on Nov. 3rd and 4th from 10 am – 2 pm at St. Mary’s Center, 100 Sunset Dr., Superior. Chorizo and egg burros will be sold. BENEFIT DANCE A dinner / dance will be held at Los Hermanos on Nov. 10, 2012. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. The dance will begin at 8 p.m. A donation of $10 will cover the cost of both. The All-Star Band along with special guest will be providing the music. There will be plenty of raffles and auction” items throughout the night. All proceeds will go to St. Francis Catholic Church. TOWN OF KEARNY The Town of Kearny Administrative Offices, Library and Public Works will be closed Mon., Nov. 12, to honor Veteran’s Day. There will not be any garbage pick up that day. Monday’s route will be picked up on Tues., Nov. 13.
