Tameron announces candidacy for Superior Council

I want to thank you for supporting me as a Town Councilmember over the past 6 years and give you some information about me so you will consider reelecting me to the Superior Town Council on August 30, 2016.

I was born in Superior and have lived here all my life.  My mother is 90 years old and still lives in Town.  All three of my children attended and graduated from Superior schools.  After graduation, my son served on the Superior Town Council and my daughter worked at Bank of the West.  My wife was a Special Education teacher at the Superior Unified School District from 2003 to 2016.  As you can see, we feel proud to be invested in this great community.

I am a small business owner with several local companies.  Over the years, I have been able to secure contracts with mines and other companies in the area.  This means that I hire employees who live in Superior, and support the local economy—both with the reinvestment of my income in the community as well as that of my workers.  During 2015, I employed 38 local employees and 3 from the Globe-Miami area.

I understand the workings of the Town government and the needs residents have for jobs and services and believe that we should each lead by example.

Many years ago, I was an employee of the Superior Sanitary District.  I was involved in the installation of the sewer plant as well as the groundwork to connect the houses to the plant.  Today I am involved in the decision-making to upgrade the plant for current needs as well as future development.  This reflects several decades of infrastructure needs in which I have been instrumental.

I was also a volunteer firefighter for 25 years, (18 years as a Captain, EMT and Medic).  I remember many times when the Volunteer Fire Department was called upon to save friends/ relatives lives and homes.  There is nothing that binds communities together more than working toward a common purpose.  It was and is a great feeling to be able to serve my community then and now.

I own rental properties and pay my residential rental tax every month.  While some landlords do not want to participate in this important program, I am happy to report and pay the tax to supplement the Town’s budget.

It is important to listen to the needs and wants of those in our community and try to bring information forward to the various Town Managers, Department Heads and the Council.  I think that I have been able to accomplish this over my tenure with the Town Council.  Of course, I am only a single voice and good government relies on a fair and balanced decision-making body.  If I am reelected, I will continue to make the best decisions possible and always do my best for the community.

Thank you for your consideration.  Your vote counts—either by early ballot or in person on August 30!

/s/ John A. Tameron
