FLORENCE, Ariz.– Pinal County Supervisor’s Pete Rios’ 1991 ascendency to become the first Latino Senate President in Arizona history has earned him a high honor from the Hispanic community.

Supervisor Rios’ time as Senate President was ranked third on the top-10 Arizona Hispanic Moments in Arizona history by Valle del Sol.

The District One Supervisor received the honor at Valle del Sol’s twenty-second annual Profiles of Success Celebration held recently in Phoenix. Over 1,400 people attended the noontime event.

“This came as a surprise,” said Supervisor Rios. “ I was there to present an award with my daughter Rebecca, the last thing I expected is to be named on this list of centennial achievements by the Hispanic Community.I am honored and touched by this recognition.”

Valle del Sol is an organization based out of Phoenix that works to strengthen families with the goal of self-sufficiency. They also aim to build the next generation of Latino and ethnically diverse leaders.
