The Superior Unified School District enjoyed an overwhelming success at its first and planned to be annual school community Thanksgiving dinner. Over 800 chairs were set around dozens of tables under the solar panels in the parking lot. Each of the chairs eventually got filled with students from all grades, teachers, staff, parents, guardians, grandparents and community members. Families gathered around to enjoy a Thanksgiving lunch and kick off the holiday season.

With over 750 RSVP’s, having enough chairs ended up being one of the biggest concerns for the event. The school had to gather chairs from everywhere in Superior including the VFW, Los Hermanos, Town of Superior, and a few families who have chairs

Those attending the luncheon were treated to a turkey complete with mashed potatoes, corn, rolls and of course everyone’s favorite, pumpkin pie. The food was prepared and served by the Superior High School Culinary students and district food service staff. Much of the food served was donated by local community leaders, businesses and organizations.

Superior Unified School Superintendent Patrick O’Donnell explained that this event was a way for the school to give back to everyone that helps the school in so many ways. He also thanked the school teachers and staff for assisting with the event.
