The Superior Rotary each month sponsors the Superior Student’s of the Month with a luncheon at Los Hermanos Restaurant. Albert Einstein once said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think”. The heart of the rotary club is dedicated people who share passion for community and youth. Rotary supports the educational aspirations of our youth who are our future. The rotary club enjoys hearing from our local youth about their future plans and the continued progress in education.

This month’s students of the month are: Brandon Martinez who is in the eighth grade, his parents are Lorena and Alfredo Martinez he participates in football, basketball and student council. After high school Brandon plans to attend Cochise College and become a pilot.

Caroline Wernett who is in the eighth grade, her mother is Susanna Estrada, she participates in volleyball, student council and National Honor Society (NHS). After high school Caroline would like to attend Arizona State University and open her own bakery.

Cecilia Dozal who is in the 12th grade, her mother is Rhonda Bara, she participates in Future Educators of America (FEA). After high school Cecilia plans to attend Western New Mexico University to major in Zoology and to obtain hands on experience through Veterinary school.

Matthew Zavala who is in the 12th grade, his parents are Michael and Kathy Zavala he participates in varsity football, varsity basketball, varsity baseball, first robotics team, National Honor Society (NHS), CVIT Program through Gila Community College, completed welding and now enrolled in geology. After high school Matthew plans to attend Arizona State University and major in Mechanical Engineering he hopes to obtain a job at Raytheon or Boeing.

It is a pleasure for the Superior Rotarians to meet with the students each month and inform the students of what being a Rotarian is and to learn about the youth and their future goals. It’s not too early to start thinking about scholarships in which every year the Superior Rotary Club offers two $500 scholarships to seniors that apply and attend college. For more information please feel free to contact a rotarian member or ask Angela Brammer, Superior’s guidance counselor. The Rotarians would like to thank you, Angela Brammer for chaperoning the students to attend lunch with the Rotarians each month.

The Superior Rotary meets every Tuesday at noon for a luncheon at Los Hermanos Blue Room. Please feel free to stop in and visit to see what is new with the Superior Rotary.
