Superior Police Report – July 13, 2016

  According to state law, police may arrest suspected offenders by two methods. The suspect may be physically taken into the department and booked into jail, or the arresting officer may write a citation and release the suspect to appear in court later. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Only criminal citations are listed. All damage amounts are estimates.

  Items are given to The Superior Sun by the Superior Police Department and reflect information available at the time the report is compiled.

June 24

  Miguel D. Gomez, 30, Superior, was arrested in the area of Crowe St. and Belmont Ave. on a felony burglary warrant issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail in Florence.

  Vehicle theft was reported in the 700 block of Main St.

June 25

  Donald E. Aho, 51, Superior, was arrested in the area of Hill St. and Church Ave. and was charged with a weapon offense. He was cited and released.

June 27

  Theft was reported in the zero block of Rainbow St.

  Theft was reported in the 700 block of U.S. Hwy. 60.

June 28

  Criminal damage was reported in the zero block of High School Ave.

June 30

  Brian K. Guerrero, 53, Superior, was arrested in the 500 block of Hill St. and was charged with criminal damage and possession of a vicious/aggressive dog. He was cited and released.

  Theft was reported in the 300 block of Palo Verde Dr.

  Christian J. Carmelo, 34, Hayden, was arrested in the area of Stone Ave. and Hill St. and was charged with driving on a suspended license. He was cited and released.

July 1

  Jose J. Castaneda, 26, Superior, was arrested in the 500 block of Valentine St. on a felony parole violation warrant issued by the Arizona Department of Corrections and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

July 2

  Nicholas L. Snyder, 20, Superior, was arrested in the 800 block of U.S. Hwy. 60 and was charged with burglary. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

  An accident without injuries was reported in the 200 block of Smith Dr.

  Jeff Crawford, 61, Kearny, was arrested at milepost 219 on U.S. Hwy. 60 and charged with exceeding speed 85+ on highway. He was cited and released.

July 4

  Amber R. Hayes, 31, Superior, was arrested in the 1000 block of Belmont Ave. on a failure to appear warrant issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. She was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

July 5

  Steve Olmos, 58, Superior, was arrested in the area of Martin St. and Belmont Ave. and was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

  Theft was reported in the 800 block of Western Ave.

July 6

  John A. Griffin, 45, Phoenix, was arrested in the area of Main St. and U.S. Hwy. 60 and was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, transportation of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon by prohibited person and weapons misconduct. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

July 7

  Theft was reported in the 800 block of Western Ave.

  Calls not listed include traffic stop (53), welfare check (9), information (7), animal complaint (3), civil matter (1), suspicious activity (10), abandoned vehicle (1), alarm drop (16), medical assist (2), fraud (1), fire (1), disturbance (3), 911 hang-up (2), traffic hazard (1), harassment (1), agency assist (6), business check (1), neighbor problem (1), fireworks (2) and trespass (3).

  Superior Police want to remind drivers to obey all the speed limits in the construction zone on U.S. Hwy. 60. ADOT is paying the Superior Police to do extra patrol in the construction zones to enforce speed limits during working hours. Fines are double in the construction zone while workers are present.

The Superior Police and Fire Departments have contracted all dispatch services to the Pinal County Sheriff (POLICE) and Florence PD (FIRE). As a result of these changes, you need to know some new phone numbers.
