Superior Police Report – April 6, 2016

  According to state law, police may arrest suspected offenders by two methods. The suspect may be physically taken into the department and booked into jail, or the arresting officer may write a citation and release the suspect to appear in court later. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Only criminal citations are listed. All damage amounts are estimates.

  Items are given to The Superior Sun by the Superior Police Department and reflect information available at the time the report is compiled.

March 25

  William N. Bell, 56, Apache Junction, was arrested in the area of U.S. Hwy. 60 and Main St. and was charged with driving on a suspended license. He was cited and released.

March 26

  Ashley E. Avendano, 26, Superior, was arrested in the are oaf East St. and Contreras St. on a warrant for failure to appear issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prison contraband. She was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail in Florence.

March 28

  Theft was reported in the 100 block of Main St.

March 30

  Andrew W. Velasquez, 47, Superior, was arrested in the area of U.S. Hwy. 60 and Main St. on four failure to appear warrants issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

  Jason G. Looper, 31, Superior, was arrested in the area of Stone Ave. and Main St. and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

March 31

  Criminal damage was reported in the 100 block of Arnett Dr.

  Sheree D. Moraga, 50, of Wheat Ridge, CO, was arrested at milepost 228 on U.S. Hwy. 60 and was charged with criminal speed. She was cited and released.

Calls not listed include traffic stop (47), welfare check (2), disturbance (1), suspicious activity (5), information (2), agency assist (4), alarm drop (4), citizen assist (2), animal complaint (1), 911 hang-up (1) and medical (2).

  Citizens are reminded to call Silent Witness at 1-800-358-INFO, Crime Stop at 689-5611 or the Information Tip Line at 520-827-0065 if they have information that may help the police department in solving a crime.

  The Superior Police and Fire Departments have contracted all dispatch services to the Pinal County Sheriff (POLICE) and Florence PD (FIRE). As a result of these changes, you need to know some new phone numbers.
