Superior Schools begin the new year with an All Grades Open House on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the Jr/Sr High Multi-purpose room. Following some general information and introductions, the elementary students will go to meet their teachers and the Jr/Sr high will get their class schedules. Classes for all grades, K-12 begin the next morning, July 24, 2013.

As the new school year is quickly approaching Superior Schools would like to offer some advice for parents and students to prepare a smooth transition into a successful year. By communicating with your student now, many decisions and anxious moments can be eliminated.

As parents, we often celebrate the beginning of a new school year with a shopping trip for clothes and supplies. Other activities can include talking with you student about their ideas of ways and things to help them be more successful. Also, discussing how many hours sleep they need to feel rested for school and how much preparation time they feel they need in the morning. Students may also have firm ideas of what is necessary for their study/homework area at home, as well as discussing the appropriate amount of time to set aside each day for study/homework. A discussion about breakfast and lunch options for the students can also clarify those situations. Finally, visiting the school and meeting the teacher, secretary, and bus driver can provide a calming feeling during the transition to a new school year.

Best of luck to you and your children as preparations are made for them in the New Year! Work with your student to begin routines to develop habits before the first day of school and you will both notice a smoother transition.

Parents are encouraged to please visit Superior Schools and discuss our successes and programs. We are located at 1500 Sunset Dr. in Superior and can be reached at 520-689-3000.
