The Superior Chamber of Commerce hosted their last meeting of the year and recognized all of the volunteers who give generously of their time to the chamber. President Pete Casillas thanked everyone who has helped the chamber grow and prosper over the year, he also highlighted many of the accomplishments of the chamber. One of this big accomplishments this year was the purchase of the old Smokey’s building on Main Street. The building at 165 Main St. will become the permanent home of the chamber, they expect to be open to the public the first week in January 2014.
The volunteers recognized for their selfless service are: Mike McKee, Pat Brown, Merilee Kinney, Karen Afdahl, Sherry Figdore, Sandra Doyle, Kerry Richards, Mary Abrahamson, Tina Gutierrez, Deb Townsend and Karen Barker. These individuals have been key volunteers at the Caboose Visitor Center, fundraisers and assisted with the building renovations.
During the meeting the Chamber of Commerce announced their leadership for 2014. Sue Anderson will be the president. The Vice President is Leslie Martin. The secretary is Lori Ketron and the treasurer is Deb McKee. Serving on the board of directors will be Pete Casillas, Merry Darr, Lina Austin, Betty Gallego, Michael Hing, Pat O’Donnell and Deb Townsend.
The Superior Chamber of Commerce meets the third Wednesday of every month at noon.
