At the Feb. 9 Superior Town Council meeting, special recognition was given to the Eighth Grade Boys Basketball team for winning the Central Junior High League Basketball Championship.

Coach Ken Majors said he realized he had a special team this year when one day at practice the team was running relay drills. The drills, nicknamed “cupcakes”, are the type where the boys run lines and different groups on the team compete against each other.  The winning group gets to sit on the sidelines and watch the losing group run extra lines. But Coach Ken Majors said with this team the drill winners didn’t just sit by and watch their teammates run. Instead the winning group got up and began running with the rest of their teammates.

“From there,” the coach said, “I knew that they understood the concept of team.”

It was then the team came up with the motto—One Team, One Dream, Panthers. And that teamwork paid off with a championship title.

  Congratulations to the boys!
