Stephen Kuykendall, 89, of Tucson passed away on Dec. 2, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona.
Visitations will be 4 p.m. Thursday Dec. 8, 2016 at Sandario Baptist Church in Marana and 1p.m. Dec. 10, 2016 at Young Baptist church in Young Arizona.
Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Dec. 8, 2016 at Sandario Baptist with Pastor Bob McSpadden officiating.
Services in Young will be held at 2 p.m., Dec. 10, 2016 with his son Pastor Danny Kuykendall officiating. Visitors may pay their respects from 1-2 pm, with services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Young Pioneer Cemetery. The VFW will act as honor guard at the cemetery. Arrangements are coordinated by Adair Funeral Home (Tucson).
Steve was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Dolph and Maud on Aug. 4, 1927. He married Evelyn Jean Bunger on March 31, 1947 in Globe, Arizona. He attended Northern Arizona College and graduated in 1953. His life occupations were teacher, school administrator, coach and US Forest Ranger. He taught school in Globe, Kearny and Ray from 1955 through 1966. He was principal of the Concho School near Show Low and helped coordinate the building of the new school building. His wife, Evelyn, was involved in Head Start in Globe and Show Low for many years.
Steve was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Navy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dolph and Maud; his siblings, Roy, Ivan, Ivy, Dorothy, Geneva, Mary Ellen, Anna Beth and John; also, his grandsons, Rod and Ricky.
Steve is survived by the love of this life, Evelyn; his children, Steve (Shauna), Danny (Laurie), Janet (Randy), Ellen, and Evart (Paige); and his legacy of 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Kuykendall, Zak Zache, Jason Kuykendall, Aaron Swicegood, Zachary, Oliver Zache and Michael Malbon.
