St. Francis Fiestas & Car Show set for this weekend

Amaya Sommer will be crowned Fiesta Queen on Saturday.

  St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church has announced the event schedule for the 2017 Fiestas Patrias and Car Show, which is scheduled for this weekend Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17.  The traditions of the Fiestas, food booths, games, car show and entertainment are all scheduled and the church has many fun activities planned.

  Residents should be aware that the car show will begin setting up at 6 a.m. and the car show will be open at 11 a.m.  From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. you can hear DJ Supie Town in front of the Church or listen to DJ Steve Lopez at Besich Park.  This year organizers anticipate that the cars will be displayed from the Helping Hands statue area to the Besich Park area.  Local rappers will perform at Besich Park throughout the day with performances by “Young Byrd”, “DJ OD”, “J Rydah” and Mario Medina. 

  Food booths will open at 8 a.m. and will close at 5 p.m. for Mass.  Following Mass, the booths will re-open until 11 p.m.

  The 2017 Fiesta Queen Amaya Sommer will be presented to the public at 6 p.m. and following the Mariachi Alma Mexicana will perform.  Andrea and the Gemini band will perform on the Fiesta stage at 9:00am.

  Sunday the food booths will open at 10 a.m. and registration for the horseshoe tournament will begin at noon.  Game booths will open at 4 p.m. and Mariachi Genaro Moreno will perform at 4 p.m.
