Melissa Zazueta is the new Outreach and Enrollment Specialist at Sun Life Family Health Center in San Manuel. She lives in San Manuel with her husband Vincente, nine-year-old daughter Eliana and two-year-old son Isaac. She is a certified Marketplace Application Counselor. She attended Pima College for two years and has her degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix. She has had training in the application of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and can help people understand the enormous amount of information and insurance options. She will help you through the application process and provide information about the insurance marketplace to assist you in selecting the best insurance for you and your family.
Although Melissa is not affiliated with the Department of Economic Security (DES), she is trained in providing application assistance and screening for state funded health insurance programs including AHCCCS and Kids Care II. The process is web based and provides quicker processing for the applicant and a shorter wait time for application determination. Since the DES office closed in Mammoth, she has helped a number of people with their DES paperwork and provided benefit updates for them. Enrollment and the application process are by appointment only. For people who have been denied AHCCCS, she can help with the sliding fee discount offered by Sun Life. She also said if you were denied AHCCCS last year, under the Affordable Care Act it is now easier to qualify and she can help you look at your insurance options.
Part of Melissa’s job is community outreach. She is currently working with the Oracle TRIAD and is a member of the Copper Town Days Association. She works with the Regional Lead Navigator for the Affordable Care Act in giving presentations that provide information about the ACA to groups and organizations. If your group or organization is interested in having a presentation or you need to explore your insurance options, contact Melissa at 520-350-7556 or email at Melissa.zazueta@slfhc.org.
