  If you are looking for something entertaining to do this weekend don’t forget the SPATS play Doin’ Time at the Alamo. This comedy takes place in the Alamo Hotel across the street from a federal penitentiary in Texas. Like their inmate loved ones across the street the lonely, wisecracking quirky characters at the hotel find themselves prisoners of the situations in their lives and of love. Can they escape or somehow find freedom? Go see SPATS latest production to find out. The award winning play was written by Mary Hanes.

  This year’s cast for Doin’ Time at the Alamo:

• Glen Beaks owner of the Alamo – Jim Pollack

• Janet Cacaci, girlfriend of an imprisoned New York mobster – Christine Oberth

• Joe Venezia, bodyguard for Janet – Imo Baird

• Melissa Woelfer, gin rummy card sharp and enjoying life while her husband is in prison – Rosanne Weaver

• Louanne Woelfer, Melissa’s daughter and “has a thing” for Joe Venezia – Melissa Sears

• Judith Bridges, visiting her lying husband in prison for the first time – Mechelle Egan

• Elizabeth Grant – a 70 year old spinster, numerologist and coming to marry her 20 year old inmate pen pal, who she has never met and happens to be a convicted murderer – Julie Szekely

  The play is directed by Cathleen Piermarino and produced by Rose Milam. Curtain rises at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, with a matinee on Sunday at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $15. Call for reservations at (520) 896-9496. SPATS Playhouse is located at 730 American Ave. in Oracle.
