Want to learn to sew? Teens Sew Cool, in conjunction with the San Manuel Jr./Sr. High School’s After School Program, delivers a sewing class that meets on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. for nine-week sessions in the Fall and Spring.

Students in third grade through high school are welcome.  Teens Sew Cool has their own classroom at the school in a wonderful setting to learn.  Class size is between 10-12 boys and girls.  Each student has a sewing machine to use during class. Fabrics and notions for the various projects are provided to the students at no charge by Teens Sew Cool program. There is no charge to sign up for the sewing sessions.

During each of the sessions, students learn sewing basics and apply them to make various projects, such as pillows, stuffed animals, tote and cargo bags, raggedy quilts, notepad and binder covers, fleece hats and scarves. In addition to sewing for their own use or as gifts for their family members, each year students complete a community project.  Most recently they made stuffed dinosaurs for children going into foster care.

Teens Sew Cool group wants to teach the art of sewing to young people with the goals of giving them a sense of self-esteem, pride of accomplishment and skills for future use in family and possible income production.

Fall session starts on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. at the San Manuel Jr./Sr. High School, 711 S. McNab Pkwy. in San Manuel.  Space is limited 12 students, so don’t wait to sign up.

If you are interested, contact Linda Shannon-Hills at dash2linda@icloud.com  and you will be sent an application form immediately.  The first 12 students registered will be able to attend.

Spring session will start on Feb. 8, 2017.
