San Manuel Senior Center gets some much needed attention

During the Christmas holiday, the San Manuel Senior Center was renovated by 6 very willing men: Frank Martinez, Dan Dean, Carl Matthews, Bob Van Dielen, Bob Barrett and Bill Mayer. Volunteers Dorothy Staggs, Hazel Cooper, Ruthie Wentworth and Dena Matthews helped with the painting, cleanup and shampooing of the carpet.  They have added new tables and chairs and they look wonderful.  The center’s logo was painted on the front of the building by some students from Aravaipa Campus.

The year 2016 is going to be a great one for the Center as it continues to implement new programs, new excursions, and meeting new friends.

The San Manuel Seniors recently traveled to visit the Greek Monastery and then continued on to Florence to have lunch at Mt. Athos Restaurant.  A wonderful time was had by all who attended, and the seniors are looking forward to the next excursion.

The next potluck is on Feb. 11 at 5 p.m.; please bring your favorite food to share.  The group will be treated to a special musical presentation by Drew Mansager, as they celebrate Valentine’s Day.

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday they have a walking group that meets at 9 a.m. at the Gardner Middle School track; everyone is invited to join the walkers.

Game day is on Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m.; they always play canasta and other games as suggested.  Right now the group is trying to finish several puzzles. Come join them for a fun afternoon.

The widows’ luncheon is on the first Monday of the month. Come join us a bring a friend.

Everyone is welcome to attend any of the activities; you do not have to be a member to participate.

Yearly dues are $15 and members pay $1 per activity; non-members pay $2 per activity to help pay for the utilities.
