San Manuel Rotary hosts Brazil Rotarians

The San Manuel Rotary hosted a group of young Rotarians from Brazil at Romo’s Restaurant on Oct.31, 2012.

The group from Brazil was part of an exchange program that promotes one of Rotary’s goals this year of peace through service. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace is one of the cornerstones of the Rotary movement.

The meeting was held to allow citizens of the Tri-Community to meet and exchange ideas with the young professionals from Rotary District 4540 in Brazil. It also allowed the local people that were invited to the meeting to learn about Rotary.

Benny De Santiago, President of the San Manuel Rotary introduced the group. The Rotarians from Brazil each spoke to the group of around 24 people. They spoke about Brazil and what they do for a living.

Mauricio Gasparini was the group leader. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Business Management. He is a professional musician and along with his twin brother, Marcelo makes up the duo Mauricio & Marcelo.

Caroline de Souza Guanaes Santos is a banker and has worked for Citibank for five years. The bank she manages is located in Ribeirao Preto Norte. She is the President of her local Rotary.

Otavio Martins Soares graduated in Business Administration and works at Industrial and Commercial Association of Ribeirao Preto as an adviser of the Board and its President. In 2000-2001 Otavio lived in Geneva, New York as an exchange student.

While there, he learned to love American football, basketball and baseball. He is a Dallas Cowboy, Chicago Bulls and New York Yankee fan. He would like to be a diplomat one day.

Jean Ridrigo Galindo has a Bachelors degree in Linguistics and a postgraduate in English Education. He is a teacher in Morro Agudo. He is the coordinator for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal group, which works with youth projects.
