San Manuel’s community band, The Noise Makers had veterans singing along and requesting encores when they played at the Veterans’ Hospital in Tucson last Friday.

“Can we ever give back enough to those who sacrificed for our country?” said director Drew Mansager. “We were very enthusiastic to play for our veterans. And they received our music with equal enthusiasm.”

The Noise Makers are local musicians who enjoy playing music in a variety of styles and venues. This month they performed their Christmas program at the San Manuel Presbyterian church, the farmers’ market at 77 North in Catalina and the Veterans’ Hospital in Tucson. They are scheduled to play at the community bonfire this Friday at Litau Field about 6 pm.

Last month, they played at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church in Tucson after a flag retirement ceremony, performed by the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and Council 8077 Rifle team, and were invited back to play for the 50+ Club in Feb.

In Sept, the Noise Makers played at the Oracle Women’s Network festival, kicking off their fund raising effort.

“The Noise Makers are looking for more trumpet players and tenor sax players, of any age,” Mansager said. See the invitation to play in the Que Pasa for more detail.
