Late September and early October are when high schools across the United States celebrate Homecoming and San Manuel is no exception.
This Friday, San Manuel High School will welcome back alumni and students will celebrate with pep assemblies, skits, parade floats and the crowning of royalty.
This year’s Homecoming Royalty include: Benny Laguna and Selena Cruz, Freshmen Attendants; Ethan Lovelace and Taya Dockum, Sophomore Attendants; Jose Damian and Cassandra Guerrero, Junior Attendants; David Isaiah Velasquez, Leeza Moreno and Eneida Quintero, Senior Attendants. This year’s Homecoming King and Queen are Andrew Gomez and Nikkita Buzan. They will be crowned at the halftime of Friday’s game against Benson.
Alumni and students hope to bring back some tradition to Homecoming this year. On Thursday, Sept. 29, from 8-9 p.m. at the dirt parking lot in front of the football field, they will host a bon fire and pep assembly. Students have been working on floats, skits and Spirit Week. The community is invited to participate in the bon fire.
So find your foam fingers. And plan on wearing red and blue all week. Come out and cheer on the Miners and help celebrate at Homecoming.
