Samuel Frank Horton

  Samuel Frank Horton passed away on Aug. 29, 2017, at his home in Kearny with his family by his side.

  He was born June 13, 1944 in Tucson to Samuel and Irene Horton. He married Aida Lopez on Sept. 27, 1974 in Kearny. He worked at Kennecott and Asarco as a haulage truck driver until his retirement.

  Sam enjoyed going to casinos with Aida and liked watching the Diamondbacks. He enjoyed traveling with family and walking in the desert until his health prevented him from doing so.

  He always faced his problems and attended AA for 28 years.

  He leaves behind his wife, Aida; daughters, Mary Ann Williams (David) of Tucson and Cindy Horton (Jon) of Kearny; son, Sam Horton Jr. (Mona) of Kearny; grandchildren, David, Cortez and Vince Williams of Tucson, Azalia Jimenez and Nevaeh Horton of Kearny, Anissa Horton of Tucson, and Jon and Kenny Bailey of Kearny; sisters, Ann Morrow of Coolidge, Patsy Walters and Christine Duran, both of Tucson, and Ruby Smith (Joe) of Kearny; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dicky and Albert, and sister, Betty.

  Memorial services were held at the Kearny Church of Christ on Sept. 16. Sam will always be remembered and cherished in his loved ones’ hearts.
