The Superior Rotarians have been busy this month, donating to the JFK Elementary third grade students a dictionary to assist them with their school work, working on having a Facebook page, and hosting lunch with Superior Students of the Month. They are also planning an upcoming training program that will be held to help the Superior Rotarians with strategic and thoughtful group planning. The Superior Rotary group also has a new President Elect, Willa Ficarra. This group has been growing and they look forward to progressing and making a difference in the community.

Each month the Superior Rotary hosts the Superior Jr/Sr High Students of the Month at Los Hermanos. After a nice luncheon the students draw for certificates, coupons, etc., from local merchants and each quarter the rotary will choose from the accumulated students of the month and draw for a Tablet. This first quarter the winner is Stevie Denogean. Stevie was very excited and happy to be the winner of the 7” Tablet.

For the month of October the Superior Jr/Sr High students of the month are: Cedric Mendoza who attends the eighth grade, his parents are Christine and Robert Alvarez. Cedric is involved with basketball and football, he would like a career as a football coach or player in the NFL; Kreona Hayes attends the seventh grade, her parents are Gary and Amber Hayes, she is involved with volleyball, basketball and softball and would like to attend ASU; Gabriella Salcido who attends the 11th grade, her parents are Joseph and Dora Salcido, she participates in volleyball, softball, basketball, Lady Dragon Club Softball, CVIT, Student Council, Math Club, French Club, Robotics and FCCLA. Gabriella has been offered to attend Paradise Valley Community College to continue her softball career as well as continuing with her nursing degree, she has started the nursing program through the CVIT program; Tyler Allison attends the 12th grade, his parents are John and Melissa Allison, he is involved in the Robotics program and would like to be a Flight Medic after high school. The rotary members enjoy meeting the youth and listening to them talk about the dreams. Congratulations to each student of the month, keep up the good work!

The Superior Rotary meets every Tuesday at noon for a luncheon at Los Hermanos Blue Room. During the meetings the group interacts on many topics, networking, sharing resources and opportunities to do what they can to help make Superior a better place.

Earlier this year, the Rotary honored the August Students of the Month, but our photographer was not available that day to take a photo of the students. Those students were:Stevie Denogean, Julian Navarro, Queenie Hing and Phalicitee Thomas.
