The San Manuel Rotary Club honored the September Student Rotarians of the month at their weekly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The Student Rotarians were Alvaro Alvarez and Braden Main.

Alvaro Alvarez is involved in the Student Council, sports where he plays basketball, football and baseball. He volunteers to give back to his community, is active in his church and is taking classes at Central Arizona College to get a head start in his education. He plans on going to college where he will take pre-med classes in hopes of becoming a Physicians Assistant. He also ranks #2 in his class.

Braden Main ranks #1 in his class at San Manuel High School. He participates in track and cross country. Braden was a Boys State Representative. He does volunteer work and wants to continue his education to become a sign language interpreter. He has already studied sign language for four years.

Bill Rowe, owner of 77north Marketplace in Catalina was the guest speaker. He talked about communities working together to promote the area. The San Manuel Rotary is working to recruit more members and continue programs such as Student Rotarians, the Rotary Track Meet, scholarships, and participation in supporting the local communities. They currently have 13 members.
