A simple man, Richard G. “Milo” Perez, 67, of Kearny, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 one day before his 68th birthday, Jan. 12, 1947. He was born to Ramon and Herminia (Gomez) Perez in Ray/Sonora, Arizona.
Milo worked for Kennecott and ASARCO for nearly 30 years as a shovel operator. He went to the trade school to become a welder. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter in Kearny for 20 years. He preferred fishing rather than hunting. He enjoyed social “good times.”
Milo considered himself as just a simple man. He was loved, and will be missed by his family and all those who worked with and that knew him.
Milo is survived by his father, Ramon E. Perez of Tucson, AZ; sons, Richard Edward Perez of Kearny, AZ. and Anthony Ray Perez of Gilbert, AZ; daughter, Nadine René (Ken) Rector of Winnemucca, Nevada; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Milo is also survived by a brother, Ramon “Happy” (Gloria) Perez of Tucson, AZ; and sisters, Gloria (Bubba) Lorona of Kearny, AZ. and Mary Lou (and the late Alfred) Mendez of Mesa, AZ.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Herminia Gomez Perez, and a brother, Raymundo “Mundo” Perez.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at Griffith Mortuary at 11 a.m. in Kearny, Arizona.
A potluck luncheon will follow at the Leo Terril Hall in Kearny at 1 p.m.
