The Superior Animal Rescue (SAR) raffle drawing took place at 5:00 p.m. at the Porter’s Cafe, during the Prickly Pear Festival on Aug. 25, 2012 Lynn Heglie drew the ticket that made Kathy Martinez, of Superior, the lucky winner.
Volunteers delivered the bike to her home that evening. Kathy says that as soon as she saw the bike she immediately thought of her four grandchildren, as she had when she first bought her tickets back in July. She says she hasn’t won a raffle in a long time and was very surprised to win.
The raffle was sponsored by Darr’s, who donated the bike, and supported by everyone at Porter’s Cafe, Copper Triangle Mining Services, and all the businesses, volunteers and individuals who lent their time and energy to the event, and especially everyone who bought a raffle ticket.
Superior Animal Rescue is no longer able to operate a kennel facility. Instead, low-cost spay/neuter assistance, including a stray cat catch and release program, is offered. For more information, you can contact Raven at 520-827-0886.
