Superior, Arizona, October 17, 2016 – Resolution Copper recently received two prestigious awards from Joe Hart, Arizona State Mine Inspector at the Fall Mine Safety Conference in Gilbert, Arizona.  Hart recognized Resolution Copper with the 2015 “Accident Free” award for excellence in safety. This award is presented annually to an organization with outstanding safety performance and a commitment to improving the health, safety and the environment where its employees work and live.

“We are honored to be recognized with the Accident Free award from the Arizona Mining Inspector,” said Jake Rukavina, manager, Health, Safety and Environment, Resolution Copper. “The journey to a sustainable accident-free workplace continues, but we take pride in what we’ve accomplished and this special recognition.”

During 2015, Resolution Copper employees worked more than 172,000 hours without a recordable injury.

In addition, Resolution Copper was recognized with the “Best Reclamation” award for its remediation project associated with historic Magma mining activities. This award is presented to companies who demonstrate best practice in reclaiming or remediating mining activities in Arizona.

“We’re delighted to be recognized for our ongoing remediation work at Magma mining reclamation site,” said Dr. Casey McKeon, environmental manager, Resolution Copper.  “This has truly been a team effort, with representatives from the community, the state of Arizona and our own experts joining together to address the challenges at this site. We’re proud of what the team accomplished so far. This is just a part of our ongoing commitment to remediate the old Magma mine property.”

In 2015, Resolution Copper reclaimed approximately 11 acres of historic mining on property at its West Plant site. At a cost of $1.9 million, the cleanup was performed by Oddonetto Construction from Globe, Albo Trucking from Superior and Superior Environmental from Superior. Reclamation efforts included a complex combination of civil engineering, environmental remediation and landscaping.
