Like most of the aging facilities in town, the Superior Little League facilities have been in need of some major repairs not only for aesthetics but also for the safety of the players, league officials and spectators. Many Little League volunteers can tell you stories of sparks flying, not because of a bad call or cold nacho cheese, but because literally there would be times that sparks would fly as the lights were turned on or off for the night, and concession stand outlets would pop, meaning that crock pots would stop working and there would be cold cheese, (no one likes cold nachos, right). This was not only an inconvenience but also a big safety concern for league officials. For the past five years league leadership has been addressing these safety concerns but the funding for electrical repairs would be costly.

When Resolution Copper got involved with the score board installation last year, they also saw the need for the electrical repairs and stepped up to the plate to make those repairs. “Superior Little League cannot thank Resolution Copper enough for their continued support of the League,” explained Vanessa Navarrette the treasurer for the Superior Little League.

The repairs included repairs to the fused-isolation switch panels feeding the metal halide floodlights and other miscellaneous loads were old and worn. The switches were not completely closing and had no ground conductor that connects the utility SES with these main panels. In addition, auxiliary loads were tapped-off the line side of the switches without proper short circuit protection. The existing conductor that fed the panel downstairs was undersized for the loads in the concession.

To remedy the deficiencies, a 200 amp circuit breaker panel was added inside the announcer’s booth. All loads now feed out of this panel with the proper short circuit protection.

The field-light switches were replaced with new magnetic lighting contractors and the risers were replaced with new continuous conduit risers. The concession area now feeds from this new panel.

This eliminates the requirement for the add-on (second) meter drop. This will be a money savings to the little league by eliminating the utility meter charge for a second meter.

An exposed outlet in the auxiliary shed/restroom building was properly attached to the wall with an adequate cover.  Lastly, the tankless water heater was burned-up and this was replaced.
