SUPERIOR, AZ — U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., will launch her first official in-district work period with a Friday, Jan. 11 visit to the Superior Mine, a critical source of economic development and stability for the Copper Basin region of District 1.
The news of massive job cuts by Resolution Copper has intensified the urgency to pass the Copper Basin Jobs Project, which has stalled in Congress. Kirkpatrick fought for this project during her previous term and will renew her push to create and protect jobs for this region, which has more than a century-long legacy of mining.
Kirkpatrick will visit the Superior Mine and meet with mine employees and leaders. Then she will attend a meet-and-greet event in Superior that is open to the public. The mine visit is 3-4 p.m, with meet and greet at 4:30-5:30 p.m.
TMine visit is at the West Plant Site, 102 Magma Heights, Superior. Meet and greet is at Porter’s Café, 404 W. Main St., Superior.
