Reflecting the Fruit of the Spirit

Proverbs 27:19 tells us, “As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”  In Psalm 119:11 we read, “I have hidden Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

What kinds of things have you hidden deep inside of your heart?  Are they attitudes, thoughts or behaviors such as:  anger, hatred, jealousy, bitterness, marital or family problems, secret sins or inappropriate desires?

What needs to be in your heart?  Things like: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  There is no law or commandment from God against any of these ideal characteristics.

With the wrong things hidden in a person’s heart, we become conceited, provoking and envying each other.  That is not a good way to live.

Let your heart reflect the fruit of the Spirit in your life, so that others may be blessed by who and what you really are.  Hide God’s Word in your heart!
