Ray High School cross-country team member Kenneth Palmer was the Bearcats’ lone competitor at the 2015 Division IV Cross Country State Championships, which took place on Nov. 7 at the Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix.
Palmer, a junior, finished with a time of 17:37, which was good enough to place 30th out of 195 runners in the boys’ race. His time was 1:03 behind state champion Zhariff Lee, a senior from Many Farms.
Lee bested runner-up Diome Talaswaima by only one-tenth of a second.
Talaswaima, a sophomore, is a member of Hopi’s cross-country team, which won its 27th team title at this year’s championships.
