Ray’s Bravo and Pacheco named AIA All-Division

Bearcats’ baseball players Dominic Bravo and Derek Pacheco have been named to the AIA All-Division IV Baseball Team. Both players earned AIA All-Section honors previously.

Bravo, a 2014 graduate, played varsity all four years at Ray. A career .436 hitter, Bravo batted .482 with 14 doubles, 5 triples, 2 homeruns, and 51 RBI in his final season. He also stole 31 bases. Dominic was also selected as an AzBCA All-Star and played in the All-Star game on May 31, 2014.

Pacheco, a junior, is a three-year varsity player for the Bearcats and just finished his best year so far. He batted .403, with 8 doubles, a triple, a homerun, and 29 RBI. His OPS was 1.109.

Andy Luberda began writing for Copper Area News Publishers (CANP) in February 2013 after working15 years in Healthcare Financial Management. Andy covers sports for eight high schools. In May 2012, he earned an AAS in Sports Management at Central Arizona College. Andy is currently earning a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from ASU’s Hugh Downs School of Communication. Andy is scheduled to complete his degree December 2014. He was born and raised in Des Plaines, Ill. In 1992, he relocated to Arizona. After a short return to Des Plaines in 1997, he returned to the Phoenix area two years later. He and his wife, Kelli, have three sons – AJ, Kyle, and Kade.
