Jump Rope for Heart2013.jpg

Ray Primary and Elementary Students took part in the Jump Rope for Heart event throughout the month of February. District Physical Education teachers Dejah Quintana and Aaron Chenoweth, teamed up with the American Heart Association and Ray students grades 2 through 8 to raise money for the foundation.

During the month long event, students learned about children with special hearts, heart facts, and ways to keep their own hearts healthy by staying active and exercising with ways like jumping rope. This year the students raised approximately $1,000 for the foundation.

Students were offered incentives for increments of money raised and all students who raised over $10 received a free ticket to a Phoenix Suns game.

Our top fundraiser for the Primary School was third grader Kimberly Newman from Ms Bustamante’s class. Our top fundraiser for the Elementary School was fifth grader Phillip Romero from Mrs. Casillas’ class.

Thank you to all students who participated and became Heart Heroes: you help save lives!
