Ray softball season ends; baseball heads to state playoffs

Softball – The ‘Cats closed their season with a loss to Hayden, 6 – 5. Despite the loss, the Bearcats are one of the top teams in their Division as they enter the state playoff tournament. The tenth-seeded ‘Cats will play Williams in the first round of the tournament. The game is scheduled for May 2, 2013 at Rose Mofford Field. Game time is 6 p.m. A rematch against Hayden awaits the Bearcats if they are victorious in their first-round contest. That game would be played on May 3 at Rose Mofford Field. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Baseball – The Bearcats 11-game winning streak was snapped with a loss to Pusch Ridge Academy, 9 – 5. The ‘Cats are considered one of the top teams in Division IV as the state tournament opens. The sixth-seeded Bearcats will open their postseason on May 3, 2013 at the Goodyear Sports Complex – South. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Since they have earned a first-round bye, the Bearcats await the winner of the game between Joseph City and Northland Prep. A quarterfinal game awaits the Bearcats if they can their second-round game. With a win, the Bearcats would play on May 4 at Goodyear. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
