The Ray football team won its third-straight game last Friday night, defeating visiting El Capitan, 58 – 12.

The Bearcats have won each of the last three games in lopsided fashion, which can be attributed to their increasing confidence.

“Although their confidence is high, they know that they were supposed to win these last three games,” Ray assistant Jimmy Fessenden said. “They also know these next three games are big.”

Ray’s Alex Bravo (44) with the ball.

Ray plays at Hayden and at Arete Prep before hosting Superior in the regular season finale.

“Ray versus Hayden is always a big game,” Fessenden said. “Both teams have their eyes on the playoffs, so that magnifies it. (Friday night) should be a great game.”

Up next: Ray visits Hayden this Friday in a game that figures to decide which team will get higher seeding in the playoffs.

“The biggest thing is to not get caught up in the hype of the rivalry,” Fessenden said is one of the keys to victory. “If we execute and play Bearcat football we will do well.”

  Friday’s kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Ray’s Romeo Varley (45) with the ball.

Ray’s Dakota Willis (15) makes a great catch.
