Ray Lady ‘Cats post wins over Florence, San Carlos

After losses to Coolidge and Hayden, the fifth-ranked Bearcats were back on track with victories versus Florence (13 – 0) and San Carlos (7 – 1).

In the Florence game, Stormee Galka pitched a one-hitter and Angela Fuentes led the way offensively. Fuentes was 3-3 with two RBI and two stolen bases.

Against San Carlos Annie Hinojos did it all as she pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts. She was also 2-3 at the plate in the victory. Stormee Galka also had two hits in the game.

The Bearcats are hitting .384 as a team and have seven players hitting .400 or better. Those players are Sarah Duncklee, Lucy Sainz, Stormee Galka, Hannah McEuen, Savannah Willis, Josettee Kimmel, and Dallas Bushnell.

The Bearcats look to extend their winning streak this week with games @ San Carlos on Apr. 2, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Apr. 3, and San Tan Foothills on Apr. 5.

Baseball – The Bearcats are ranked #8 in the most recent Div. IV state rankings. The Bearcats finished the Salt River Classic Tournament with a record of 2 – 2. They have won four of their last six, including victories against Hayden and Florence this past week by scores of 12 – 2 and 13 – 4, respectively.

The Bearcats are hitting .322 as a team with Destry Yocum hitting .545 and Dominic Bravo .457. Yocum leads the team with 18 RBI and is followed by Jacob Wernett (14) and Seth Harmon (11). Dominic Bravo leads the team in stolen bases with 11. The pitching staff is led by ace left-hander Alex Carrera who is 4 – 1 with a 1.37 ERA. He has two complete games and has one save.

The Bearcats look to extend their winning streak to three games and more this week as they play @ San Carlos on Apr. 2, Canyon State Academy on Apr. 3, and San Tan Foothills on Apr. 5.
