Ray Lady ‘Cats extend winning streak

Softball – The Bearcats extended their winning streak to five games with victories over San Carlos, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy and STFHS. Savannah Willis was 4-4 with a triple and three RBI in the 17 – 1 win against San Carlos. Angela Fuentes hit a homerun in the game. The winning pitcher was Stormee Galka. In the 10 – 0 victory against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, Ashley Meza and Stormee Galka each had three hits. Lucy Sainz had two RBI. Annie Hinojos pitched a complete game shut-out. Stormee Galka, Hannah McEuen and Savannah Willis each had two hits in the 11 – 1 win versus STFHS. McEuen also had three RBI and Willis two RBI. Galka was the player of the game as she also earned the victory. She had 5IP, 2H, 1ER, 0BB, and 7K. Upcoming games: Upcoming games: Apr. 9 vs. Miami, Apr. 11 vs. San Manuel, Apr. 12 @ Globe, Apr. 16 @ Superior.

Baseball – The Bearcats won all three games they played this week and have a five game winning streak. They defeated San Carolos, Canyon State Academy, and San Tan Foothills by scores of 13 – 3, 15 – 1, and 9 – 1, respectively. The Bearcats moved up three spots in the most recent Div. IV state rankings to #5. The Bearcats hit four triples in the game versus San Carlos. Seth Harmon had two of the four. Dominic Bravo and Jacob Wernett each had one. Destry Yocum continues to lead the way offensively for the Bearcats. He was 3-4 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI in the game against Canyon State Academy. Yocum, a sophomore, is ranked #14 in Div. IV batting average. Alex Carerra pitched a complete game and earned the victory versus STFHS. Carerra’s pitching line: 7IP, 5H, 1ER, 2BB, and 12K. Destry Yocum had three more hits, Jacob Wernett hit another triple, and Daniel Harmon had two RBI. Upcoming schedule: Apr. 9 vs. Miami, Apr. 11 vs. San Manuel, Apr. 12 @ Globe, Apr. 16 @ Superior.
