The Ray boys’ basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with lopsided victories against Phoenix Day School for the Deaf and North Phoenix Prep last Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
In their 79 – 17 season-opening win last Monday against the Roadrunners, the Cats had three players score in double figures, led by junior Stone Patterson, who had a game-high 22 points. Junior Anthony Lopez and senior Fabian Valenzuela added 15 and 14 points, respectively. Richard Valenzuela, a senior, finished with eight points and was one of eight other players to score at least two points in the game.
Upcoming games: Dec. 12 vs. Hayden. Game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
