Ralph B. Proffitt Jr., 81, passed away on Sept. 28, 2016 at Tucson, AZ UMC South due to complications from Alzheimer’s.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty; daughter, Kristi Riley of San Manuel; son, Ralph B. “Bill” Proffitt III of Seattle; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren of Seattle.
Ralph earned his Doctorate in Mathematics and Aeronautical Engineering, served in the military from 1955- 1962 obtaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Raytheon, having worked at Boeing, Honeywell, Alliant Techsystems and McDonald Douglas.
He loved building model sailing ships and dogs. He also loved Star Trek and tried to keep up with the space program; specifically the ISS.
Private family services were held on Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. in San Manuel. There will be no formal service. Burial will take place in Columbus, Mississippi.
