Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney signed a proclamation declaring the month of September as Kinship Care Month in Queen Creek. The proclamation is in recognition and support of grandparents raising their grandchildren and other kinship families.
Mayor Barney joins the Arizona Grandparent Ambassadors and other Arizona cities and towns in appreciation of the hard work and commitment of kinship caregivers. Kinship caregivers ensure that children enjoy a safe environment with opportunities to succeed. As a result, children in kinship care are able to stay out of the foster case system, which saves Arizona money and helps keep families together.
“The children of our community are a priority, especially their safety and well-being,” stated Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney. “We are committed to supporting kinship caregivers who are providing a safe and secure environment and we applaud them for their efforts”.
