San Manuel Open Market is still going strong ever Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon at 801 McNab Parkway in front of the Community Presbyterian Church. Table space is only $5. The Mammoth-Winkelman Early Head Start is accepting enrollment applications for children 0-3 years for the 2012-2013 school year. Children must be three before Aug. 31, 2012. San Manuel Museum, located in the Elks Lodge breezeway, is operated by the San Manuel Historical Society. It is now open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for you to come and see items from San Manuel’s history!

The San Manuel Thrift Store is looking for volunteers to work one day, or more, per week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Thrift Store is run by the San Manuel Historical Society and proceeds from Thrift Store sales go to support the SM Museum, as well as the SM Library, Christmas Toy Drive, and other local charitable organizations.

Resource information for seniors is now available at Sun Life Clinic in San Manuel. Some of the information available is meant to aid caregivers in their work. Also available is medicine safety information for seniors. Stop in or call to get more information and phone numbers on these and other subjects. COPPER TOWN DAYS Copper Town Days will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, in uptown San Manuel. There will be a car show, free entertainment, food, kids’ games, jumping castles and rides, softball tournament, crafts and unique products. St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Oracle will host its annual fiesta on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be food, fun, games and entertainment. Admission is free and all are welcome.

CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD On Sat., Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., bring well-behaved animals, leashed or caged, for an animal blessing at the Church of the Good Shepherd as part of the Oktoberfest celebration in Kearny. Pictures may be brought, instead, if the animals can’t come.

The San Pedro Valley Lions Club in Mammoth will serve a benefit breakfast on Sun., Oct. 7, at the Lions building at 115 Main St., beginning at 7 a.m. Menudo and regular breakfast will be served.

Safe Journey House is offering a free 5-week support group for women who are, or who have been in an abusive situation. The group begins Tuesday, Oct. 9, and will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Safe Journey House, 212 E. Fifth St., San Manuel. Please call 520-385-4970 or toll free 855-385-4970.

Bountiful baskets is coming to San Manuel every other Saturday. The next delivery day is Oct. 13. To participate in the program, you must register online at www.bountifulbaskets.org to make a monetary contribution toward the pools used to purchase the produce. Contributions can be made starting at noon on Monday until Tuesday at 8 p.m. prior to Saturday pickup. The distribution site is new, now at the Elks Lodge Breezeway in San Manuel. The Oracle Community Center will hold a craft fair at the center on Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast will be offered and there will be lots of craft tables full of wonderful items to purchase. Early Christmas shopping, anyone?

The Oracle Community Center will have its annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 7-11 a.m. There will be a bake sale, craft tables available to sell your hand crafted items ($10 a table) and raffles for great baskets stuffed to the brim with wonderful items. Saturday, October 20, 4 to 6 pm at New Moon Haven, 16256 North Oracle Road (next to “MI Tierra” restaurant), FREE Argentine Tango workshop.  Learn all about Argentine Tango History, Culture, Music, and Dance. Presented by Lidia and Hector Legrand, a legend Argentine Tango instructor-couple with 15 years of teaching experience. This workshop will present the history of the Argentine Tango Dance, the culture behind it, the traditional music, and some of the dance elements of Argentine Tango. It will include audios, videos and live demonstrations of the dance. The Oracle Medical Equipment Loan Closet is now available to Tri-Community residents in need of medical equipment. The closet is in need of donations of all forms of medical equipment (except hospital beds). Equipment must be in safe working condition.
