Pioneer Days 2013 deadlines approaching

Pioneer Days is almost here and with all the cold weather and snow lately, we’re pray for a little bit of warmth.

Parade applications are available and there is no fee to enter. Legends and Lore is the theme. There were famous Indians, cowboys, stage coach robbers, lawmen and individuals who lived or roamed the Copper Basin that would be easy to re-enact on a float, walking group, individual or equestrian group. Participants are asked to think of the stories heard or things seen to depict on their float.

As part of Pioneer Days, but not sponsored by the Chamber, there will be softball tournaments, team roping at the Posse arena, and horseshoes at the Elks.

Six girls are running for Junior Queen and Queen and are out selling tickets. You may be the lucky winner of one of the cash prizes. They will have their annual fashion show during the Women’s Expo Saturday, Mar. 9 at the Hayden High mini auditorium in the District Office Building.

There is still time for merchandise vendors to apply for booth space. Food Vendors deadline was Feb. 22. We cannot accept applications for merchandise and information booths after Mar. 15.

Those wanting a Pioneer Days t-shirt have until March 8 to order one. Each shirt is $12 for small to extra large. There is an additional charge for each additional larger size. If you are interested in an ad on the t shirt it is one line for $40.

The shirt this year is deep heather gray with splashes of Copper ore and mining buckets.

Volunteers are always needed. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to participate. If you are interested check with Anna Flores, Town Clerk, at the Kearny Town Hall. We can always find something interesting for you to do.
