Phyllis Herron

was born in Miami, Ariz. on Oct. 10, 1926 to Sydney and Frances Fulcher. She was later adopted by William Richardson, Sheriff, in Globe, Ariz. She attended school in Miami and then graduated from Globe High School. 

In 1944, she began her training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix and received her RN diploma. Phyllis returned to school and in about 1979 she earned her Associates Degree in Science. She worked 15 years at the Magma Copper Company hospital in Superior, between 1950 and 1982. She was a retired registered nurse.

Phyllis met her future husband Jim Herron in Florence, Ariz. They were married Sept. 9, 1950. Jim and Phyllis went on their honeymoon horseback to Haunted Canyon, NE of Superior. Jim passed away July 6, 2004. 

She is survived by one son, James Frank Herron, two daughters; Phylilis Giarrizzo, Jane Nichols, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Phyllis was a member of the Arizona Cowbelles and Arizona National Cattleman’s Association. She was adored by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
